Chinese Pepper Steak

Holiday Recipe Guide 2009

2 T olive oil

1 sm garlic, crushed

2 T soy sauce

2 med tomatoes, diced

¼ C water

Pepper to taste

1 lb steak, cut into small pieces

1 lg green bell pepper, cut in 1” stips

1 can Chinese mixed vegetables or bean sprouts

1 T cornstarch

Canned Chinese noodles or rice

¼ tsp ginger

Heat olive oil and add steak and garlic. Cook over medium heat until meat is brown on all sides, sprinkle meat with ginger and add soy sauce. Mix well. Bring to boiling, reduce heat and simmer, covered 5 minutes. Add bell pepper, tomato and mixed vegetables and their liquid. Bring to boil, reduce heat and simmer 20 minutes or until tender. Combine cornstarch and water, blend into meat. Cook until thickens and clear. Serve over noodles or rice. Salt and pepper to taste.
